Ocean Literacy as a tool to drive ocean conservation actions - Our Ocean Conference

Ocean literacy drives conservation action by fostering informed public awareness and empowering individuals to make responsible decisions regarding ocean health. Through increased knowledge, awareness, and emotional connection to the ocean, people are more likely to engage in pro-environmental behaviors like advocating for sustainable resource management.

The workshop and round table “Ocean Literacy as a tool to drive Ocean conservation actions” has been hosted by the Our Ocean Conference in Busan (South Korea) in February 2025 to present Save the Wave as a key pilot project to advance literacy and conservation objectives at international level.

The event hosted the following speakers:

  • Camila Rivera, Oceanus Conservation

  • Valentina Lovat, Associate Programme Specialist from UNESCO-IOC

  • Mr. Sangkil Lee, Director Ministry of Oceans and Fisheries in Korea
