Ocean Literacy as a tool to drive ocean conservation actions - UNOC3
The second edition of the workshop “Ocean Literacy as a Tool to Drive Ocean Conservation Actions” was hosted at the Beyond Borders Pavilion, organized by UNESCO, OFB, and CNR-Ismar, with the aim of promoting conservation action by fostering informed public awareness and empowering individuals to make responsible decisions regarding ocean health.
Through increased knowledge, awareness, and emotional connection to the ocean, people are more likely to engage in pro-environmental behaviors, such as advocating for sustainable resource management.
The workshop was held to present Save the Wave as a key pilot project to advance ocean literacy and conservation objectives at the international level.
The event featured the following speakers:
Valentina Lovat, Associate Programme Specialist, UNESCO-IOC
Camila Rivera, Oceanus Conservation
Octavio Aburto, Centro para la Biodiversidad Marina y la Conservación
Rebecca Daniel, Marine Diaries
