Save the Wave in Mondello
The Gulf of Mondello in northern Sicily, once known for its rich marine biodiversity, has suffered from uncontrolled urban expansion, pollution, and erosion. The once-thriving Posidonia oceanica meadows have largely disappeared, leaving behind a barren seafloor with large areas of dead seagrass.
Save the Wave aims to restore these Posidonia meadows, bringing marine life and biodiversity back to the area and helping to recover the ecological health of the Gulf of Mondello.

A core element of the Save the Wave project in Mondello is raising awareness and involving the local community, tourists, and students in hands-on reforestation activities to increase the respect for the marine environment.
Save the Wave is not just an environmental restoration project, but an initiative that seeks to rebuild the connection between the city and community of Palermo and its sea, fostering collective awareness and responsibility for the protection of a vital ecosystem.
