The Oceancy

The Oceancy is a non-profit organization committed to the restoration and protection of marine and coastal ecosystems, including coral reefs, mangrove forests, and seagrass meadows such as Posidonia oceanica. Through environmental education programs and technical training, The Oceancy promotes ecological awareness, develops specialized skills, and supports sustainable solutions that integrate environmental conservation, scientific research, and economic development. Working closely with local communities, The Oceancy fosters the growth of their knowledge and actively involves them in restoration projects, thereby enhancing their capabilities and strengthening economic autonomy.

The activities of The Oceancy extend globally, including in Brazil, Kenya, Mozambique, the Philippines, and Indonesia. From the restoration of coral reefs in the Maldives, where it collaborates with the local organization Baokalo on the island of Velidhoo (Noonu Atoll), supporting environmental and educational initiatives with schools and local authorities, to the coasts of Tanzania, where it is involved in the restoration and protection of mangrove forests and seagrass meadows.

Among the most significant projects is the Posidonia oceanica regeneration initiative at the Tremiti Islands, carried out with the support of Save the Wave and in collaboration with the Aldo Moro University of Bari. This project aims to restore the Posidonia meadows, which are essential for preserving the biodiversity of these extraordinary islands.
